Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for an opportunity in Baltimore, MD.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Mechanical Engineer who will be tasked with reviewing ship design and development drawings (Piping), reviewing analysis, and answering change forms from the shipyard. Candidate will work with a small team to drive the Detail piping arrangements and review and calculations. Drive the piping design on a class of ships.

1. Detail piping arrangements/review and calculations
a. Lube Oil Service, Transfer and Purification System Engineering Calculations
b. Chilled Water System Engineering Calculations
c. Potable and Fresh Water System Calculations
d. Water Mist System Engineering Calculations
e. Aqueous Film Forming Foam System Engineering Calculations
2. Perform piping modeling with Pipe net SW Suite

Particularly looking for someone that can reliably perform calculation updates and that can be trusted to work independently to provide accurate responses to piping questions (i.e. LARs, USN comments, etc.).

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
3. Extensive Piping Knowledge
o Expertise with pressure drop, fluid flow, orifice sizing and pipe sizing calculation methods
o Familiarity with the concepts and methods outlined in Crane Technical Paper 410 for designing piping systems
4. Knowledge of Ship Design and Ship systems such as machinery, electrical and structural systems that interface with piping systems
5. 5+ years of professional experience in ME and Piping Design
6. 2+ years of professional experience with AutoCAD and Navisworks
7. 1+ years of professional experience with flow analysis software, PipeNet software preferred
8. To do detail piping arrangements/review and calculations?

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time, 9/80A-1st Shift

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
