Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Procurement Specialist III for an opening in Fremont, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Buyer/Planner III position is responsible for assigned procurement related activities for the company in obtaining materials, services and equipment. Gather quotations, examine bids, and makes awards. Determines material requirements and maintains inventory at planned levels. Evaluates vendor reliability, develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate. Monitors cost, schedules, and scope of assigned contracts to assure best quality at best value. Maintains a high quality of service to internal and external customers by assuring uninterrupted supply of materials to meet production and customer demand.

Materials Planning and Purchasing

Participate in the SIOP (Sales Inventory Operations Planning) process.
Utilize Material Requirements Planning (MRP) to plan, execute and modify purchase orders.
Work with key stakeholders to confirm demand signals and execute supply plans to support customer requirements and ensure product availability.
Communicate effectively with suppliers to assure OTRQ (On Time Right Quantity) delivery and drive purchase orders to closure.
Control the levels of inventory on an assigned group of parts/products by ensuring planning parameters are accurately maintained in the ERP system.
Evaluate and minimize E&O (excess and obsolescence)


Cost Management

Identify cost reduction opportunities available by employing techniques of price/cost analysis, negotiations, strategic sourcing and value engineering.
Effectively utilize the Total Cost of Ownership model to guide sourcing decisions.
Analyze material cost impact on the business and develops appropriate response.
Participate in every aspect of supply chain management to maintain a reliable and cost competitive source of supply for a business unit or global category.


Supplier Management and Development

Locate, evaluate, negotiate, and select suppliers to gain the best quality, cost and delivery of purchased material consistent with required standards.
Develop strategic partnerships with preferred suppliers to ensure business objectives are met
Conduct Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with supply base and key stakeholders.
Responsible for supplier management from tactical day-to-day ordering, to performance reporting and corrective action as required.
Resolve material non-conformances and ensure financial recovery where appropriate.
Lead purchasing activities with manufacturing, engineering, and customer service departments to identify alternative suppliers.
Initiate, execute, and manage supply agreements with legal support

Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Strong customer service focus to enhance satisfaction, demonstrate judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers.
Knowledge of supply chain programs (consignment, JIT, VMI, etc.) and ability to manage project execution of these programs.
Improves processes and creates efficiencies through PPI (Practical Process Improvement)
Supports the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Knowledge of good clinical practices and protocols to support regulatory compliance.
Ensures compliance of supplier files by keeping all documentation updated.
Manage procurement metrics and scorecards.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Three to Five years business experience.
Some experience in a scientific environment or knowledge of chemistry or biology is a plus.
APICS or ISM certification is strongly desired.
Project management and ability to develop strong support for change with all levels of internal and external organizations.
Strong organization skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
Ability to make decisions and solve practical problems with a variety of variables in situations where standardization may be limited.
Statistical analysis skills; must be able to analyze trends and statistical data and make appropriate decisions and recommendations.
Self-driven, results oriented, and motivated to work effectively without direct supervision.
Proficiency with Excel, ERP systems, and database applications.

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience (Master’s degree preferred)

Full-Time

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
