Chipton-Ross is seeking a Scientist III for an opening in Carlsbad, CA.

The Cell and Gene Therapy Scientist III contractor will be responsible for performing Research and Development activities focused on technologies and workflows relevant to cell and gene therapy applications, specifically viral vector related projects.

Actively participate in R&D efforts to develop cutting edge viral vector-based gene delivery platforms

Actively involved in viral vector production system development for Adeno associated Virus (AAV) and Lentivirus (LV) platforms

Be able to work Independently in a fast-paced product development setting with minimal training and supervision and have a passion for lab work.

Highly engaged in daily lab activities, focusing on workflow optimization, data analysis, guard banding/DOE, and documentation.

Be able to independently design experiments, write plans, protocols, reports, and work instruction, to support product development

Maintain good lab notebooks and experimental record

Possess strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with and ability to interact with and effectively present scientific data to a diverse set audience (R&D, business team and academic researchers)

Highly collaborative with the ability to work in a matrixed environment within a diverse team and champion positive work environment

Understand stringency of timelines by being tenacious, decisive, nimble and quick,

Demonstrates forward-thinking attitude by anticipating needs and problems while creating solutions

Proficiency with mammalian cell culture maintenance propagation and analysis including suspension and adherent cells. Prior experience with immune cells is a plus.

Skilled in standard molecular, cell & viral biology techniques including DNA preparations, transfection, transduction, virus production and quantification, qPCR, western blots, ELISA and flow cytometry

Good understanding of lab calculations and buffer formulation

Prior hands on experience with AAV and/or LV viral vector production and purification is required

Previous experience with bioreactor scale cell culture, Gene therapy process development and understanding of regulatory requirements is a plus

Work with a sense of urgency and be able to independently design, execute and interpret experiments

Intellectually curious and well informed on latest scientific advances

Accredited Masters with 3-5 years’ experience or Ph. D with 1-2 years in cellular biology, molecular biology, virology, or other relevant disciplines

1st Shift

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
