Chipton-Ross is seeking a Scientist lll for an opening in Frederick, MD.

Develop and maintain a variety of genetically modified suspension cell systems aimed at protein and viral vector production for clinical applications
Characterize culture system performance using techniques including flow cytometry, ELISA and related techniques (BLI), gene expression assays (qPCR/ddPCR)
Novel assay development as required
Meticulously track and compile results to support GMP documentation and for protection of intellectual property in accordance with relevant Client standards
Interact closely with other internal departments (i.e., Marketing, Business Development, Quality, Operations and/or Technical Services) in the commercialization of new products and troubleshooting of existing processes
Perform duties independently with only general direction given
Comply with all company safety, training, and quality regulations (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.) and procedures
Work in a laboratory environment, be able to lift up to 40 lbs, and be able to stand for long periods of time while performing duties
Work safely with chemicals and hazardous materials

Cell culture expertise, including suspension based cells, and transient transfection of these for protein production goals
Experience in characterization of cell culture performance
Must have the ability to maintain meticulous records of work performed
Must possess demonstrated ability to design and conduct research independently
Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interpret, summarize, and present scientific results in a clear, concise, accurate manner to both technical and non technical audiences
Demonstrated ability to generate new ideas, achieve results and solve problems
Excellent time management, multi-tasking, and organizational skills

Experience with genetic engineering of CHO or 293 cell lines including crispr/CAS9, Talens and related molecular biology techniques
Experience with the culture of mammalian suspension cells, especially production systems aimed at recombinant protein and viral vector production
Understanding of chemical, biochemical and physical interactions of cell culture media and reagent components
Experience with GMP cell line development
Experience with performing and developing various assays to assess protein and viral vector quantity and quality, e.g. FACS. Western, Octect, qPCR etc.
Familiarity with the use of Design of Experiments principles
Exposure to purification methods of proteins and viral vectors, e.g. affinity purification, SEC, IEX, etc.

Strong background in cell biology with a Ph.D. with 1-3 years of experience or Master's degree with 5-8 years of experience.

1st Shift, 8:30am-5:30pm

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
