Chipton-Ross is seeking an Electrophysics Engineer/Scientist 1 for an opening in Huntsville, AL.

Assists in developing and documenting requirements for various communication, sensor, electronic warfare and other electromagnetic systems and components. Performs basic analysis to predict component performance to established requirements. Conducts simple tests to validate performance of designs to requirements. Collects data on supplier and partner performance to ensure compliance to requirements. Provides support to products throughout their lifecycle. Supports project management by gathering project status data. Gathers information to support development of sections of proposals to support development of new business. Works under close supervision.

The objective of the SLS Electromagnetic Effects effort is to develop the Bonding, Grounding, Lightning, Indirect Affects and EMC Support Data while also supporting design development through analysis of design layout artifacts and validation of design compliance to system requirements. The candidate will:
Coordinate with design teams on design configuration and layout design intent with respect to Electromagnetic Effects, attend virtual product reviews as needed to understand design, analysis, and pending changes, support "full kit" and "products due" milestones by providing Electromagnetic Effects compliance statements and required layout checklists to support layout closure, and updating the Bonding and Ground data documentation as required. The candidate will assist with element interface engineering drawings which include material selection, corrosion protection strategy and process (conversion coating, nickel plating, etc.) and physical specifications/dimensions of bonding surfaces. Additionally, the candidate will assist with lightning indirect effects information to include element lightning actual transient level analysis and element lightening indirect effects qualification (test procedures, test levels, and waveforms selected for each Avionics item).

- Knowledge of reading ASME Y14.5 Compliant Drawings and Datasets
- Prior experience with space vehicles, satellites, or missile systems and/or box level tests and analysis
- Experience with MATLAB
- Experience with 3D modeling software
- Prior exposure to EMC test equipment
- Prior experience with implementation of EMC Control Plans
- Knowledge to perform lightening analysis per contract applicable standards

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Minimum degree required is a Bachelors degree in Engineering. Electrical engineering is preferred.

10% Domestic Travel Required for Business Meetings on site

WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
