- Chipton-Ross is seeking a Software Engineer 5 for an opportunity in Kent, WA.
As a Software Development and Test Engineer and member of the Advanced Ground System (AGS) Software Engineering team, you will be involved in the entire system development life cycle, from idea creation and development, all the way through to maintenance and support of the customer’s delivered system. This position will place you in roles where you have the opportunity to make an impact on the results of our project. The Software Engineering team offers a collaborative mentoring environment where you have the opportunity to learn from others while mentoring our junior staff.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
•Bachelor's Degree or higher education
•Experience with C++ design, coding and test
•Experience working in an Agile Environment utilizing tools like Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc)
•Ability to lead a small team of software developers confidently and efficiently through entire software lifecycle
•Ability to translate model-based systems engineering (MBSE) models into user stories to produce high quality code to meet requirements by determining work estimates, tasks, and project approaches
•Strong critical thinking, decision making, troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• 12+ years of professional software development experience
•Bachelor's degree in a computer related field or equivalent professional experience
•Experience in network programming, TCP/IP, UDP, TCP, Multicast, or Anycast
•Experience using Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) to provide simulation state information in simulation environments utilizing Multicast sockets
•Experience with ground system software (ex: COSMOS) for command and control of space systems using CCSDS (command and telemetry interface)
•Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system
•Experience working in DevSecOps or DevOps Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) environments
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 12 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+6 years' related work experience, Master+9 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
WORK HOURS: 8:00AM-5:00PM
