- Chipton Ross is seeking a Calibration Technician for an opening in North Las Vegas, NV.
WHY WE NEED YOU
The Quality team is responsible for assuring all test equipment, tools, and sensors are verified to internal and industry level standards. We are looking for a Calibration Technician to support product development of a new transportation system by performing automated measurements, tracking critical assets, and conducting preventative maintenance of complex test rigs.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough verification to ensure end-to-end electrical components and tooling meet internal and external requirements. The candidate will work closely with electrical design engineers, manufacturing, and test technicians. Candidates will have the skill set and experience to meet the responsibilities noted below.
" Develop VH procedure for equipment calibration and maintenance based on ISO 9001 or equivalent standards.
" Identify and utilize appropriate manual and automated measurement procedures.
" Manage calibration database, ensure equipment remains in current calibration status.
" Perform maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of precision equipment.
" Prepare calibration reports and certificates.
" Adapt existing calibration equipment, standards, and techniques to accomplish unique measurements tasks.
" Coordinates calibration activities and maintain records of tools and gauges used for product acceptance or Verification/Validation.
" Use precision measuring instruments to verify compliance on dimensions, angles, radii, contours, holes, surface finishes, concentricity, hardness, material, and plating.
" Support site safety to ensure projects are completed in accordance with established safety procedures and requirements.
" Support test and development organization during commissioning testing (test readiness reviews and approval process).
" Basic understanding of Traceability, Substitution of Standards, and Test Accuracy and Uncertainty Ratios.
" Skilled with pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical instrumentation; as well as manual and computer-based process control loops and systems; understands and applies basic concepts of calibration and requirements including accuracy testing.
" Basic understanding and application of instrument, equipment, and loop calibrations of various parameters in manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory environments.
" Ability to grasp or manipulate objects with one or both hands.
" Ability to stand, walk, sit, and use office equipment in the course of normal duties.
" Ability to work on a construction site in hazardous conditions
" Ability to operate a forklift to enable part movement and kitting through the shop.
" Calibrate inspection and test equipment in the following disciplines - electrical, dimensional, optical, physical/mechanical in order to ensure compliance with published specifications.
" Experience in Calibration Laboratory. All calibration is to be performed in accordance with NIST traceable standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing work to handle multiple assignments, work independently, and have strong interpersonal skills.
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
" Bachelor's degree or high school diploma with equivalent work experience
" Experience using basic machine shop tools, caliper, micrometer, gauges, and jigs
" Experience working in an ISO9001, AS9100, and/or IATF 16949 shop floor environment.
" Proficient with PC tools such as Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, & Project.
" Experience working under ISO 17025 Quality Assurance preferred.
" Candidate must be versed in ANSI/NCSL Z540-1 and/or ANSI/NCSL Z540.3 and understand uncertainty budgets.
" Military PMEL / TMDE / DOD training preferred, or 3 years of equivalent training is preferred
Must be able to work 1st or 2nd shift, 5/40 schedule
Employment will be contingent on clearing a background check. Must clear prior to start date.
