Chipton Ross is seeking a Cost Engineer 3 in Newport News, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This benchmark is intended to be used by companies that have generic classifications engaged in research and/or product development encompassing primarily one or more of the following engineering disciplines: electronics, electrical, mechanical, and/or chemical.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience. Master's Degree and 3 years of experience.
***ABET Engineering degree required***
o Bachelor's Degree in engineering discipline or equivalent knowledge plus at least six years of experience developing cost estimating information using engineering-based approaches is required - a relevant professional certification can be substituted for a bachelor's degree
o In addition to the education requirement, preference for individuals holding Certified Cost Estimator Analyst (CCEA) credentials from the International Cost Estimating and Analysis Association or equivalent credentials from the Association for Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE)
o This position is distinguished from other cost estimator positions as the levels of responsibilities and complexity of work requires a degree in engineering or equivalent engineering experience
o Strong MS excel skills
o Candidate can apply engineering-based processes to estimate costs for shipbuilding, ship repair and heavy industrial manufacturing projects to aid management in establishing and analyzing contract pricing and performance measurement baselines for products and/or services using a variety of data sources, analytical tools, and applications
o In addition to strong oral and written communication skills, effectively collaborate with representatives of other functional areas including design engineering, production, planning, scheduling, and supply chain management to identify and quantify types of materials and equipment required to satisfy contract requirements - use and apply cost estimate development knowledge related to manufacturing processes, intermediate and finished products, services, and product types using information sources including, but not limited to, blueprints, digital design information, and performance specifications
o Typical Functions
i. Itemizes tools, fixtures, or equipment to be manufactured by company or purchased from outside sources
ii. Develops estimates for cost of materials, purchased equipment, subcontracted work, production activities and requirements, and labor

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience. Master's Degree and 4 years of experience. 3 years of related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. 8 years of non-related exempt experience can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. An Apprentice Certificate or graduation from Navy Nuclear Power School can be substituted for Bachelor's degree. A relevant professional certification can be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Certification Equivalency: Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certifications in Business Cost Estimating issued by the Defense Acquisition University (DAU) -or- a Certified Cost Estimator Analyst (CCEA) certification issued by the International Cost Estimating & Analysis Association (ICEAA).

HOURS:
This position is first shift, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. Part time telework may be available.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
