- Chipton-Ross is seeking an Instrument repair Technician for an opening in Tewksbury, MA.
This position requires a candidate with experience related to repairing hand held portable instruments. The candidate will work in a service area along with team members to diagnose, perform repairs, assemble, and perform calibrations (if needed), on client handheld products. The instruments are based on Optical technologies and are used in a wide variety of industries to detect and report the composition of a variety of materials. The candidate will be trained to work with high technology instruments, data acquisition systems, and standard industry software. The position is a workstation-based role; a healthy sense of urgency, cross-training capability, and team-based thinking are highly valued.
Correctly diagnose and repair, customers, and in-process units back to working condition. Ensure pace and weekly/monthly productivity goals are met. Coordinate with warehouse members to report and ensure parts and delays are reported accurately. Use various testers and software to analyze and final approve instruments. Must keep accurate and ISO auditable records of product repairs, test results and data as required.
Have an adequate understanding of manufacturing assembly and test concepts. Ability to follow work instructions and procedures and to use test equipment as required. Experience with the operation of test systems (hardware and software). Prior use of Salesforce or similar service tracking software. Must have component soldering experience along with experience working in an ESD environment.
Familiar with using small had tools (wrenches, gauges, meters, etc...) Have good communications and organizational skills and must be a team player. Ability to utilize all forms of e-communication at a high level is absolutely required. Ability to work in a team environment and build working relationships with co-workers. Ability to sit or stand at workbench for extended periods of time; bend, stoop, reach, turn as required. Strong English skills desired. Excellent computer skills required.
College Degree or equivalent in a technical discipline preferred -OR-
Minimum 1 year of experience in manufacturing and testing of high technology products.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
