Chipton-Ross is seeking a Programmable Logic Controller – Industrial Controls Software Developer 4- Engineer Software 4 for an opportunity in Newport News, VA.
Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Applies extensive technical expertise, and has full knowledge of other related disciplines. Able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings.
Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.
Guides the successful completion of major programs and may function in a project leadership role. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in failure to achieve major organizational objectives.
Represents the organization as the prime technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
3+ year experience in Rockwell (Allen Bradley) RsLogix 5000, Studio5000, PLC/HMI programming
Must have strong background in programming, troubleshooting, and commissioning PLC’s.
Capability to develop/write/execute software unit tests and/or Verification and Validation (V&V) Test Procedures
Communicate with in-house technical and engineering staff
Communicate with vendors for technical information and specifications
Bachelor's degree and school must be accredited. See requirements for trade offs.
5/40 work week.
7:30 AM to 4PM
This position may have the opportunity for SOME remote work. The majority of work will be completed onsite.
This position will require time spent on a ship.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
