Chipton-Ross is seeking a CMM Operator II for an opening in Goose Creek, SC.

o Reads and interprets customer drawings and specifications and identify appropriate inspection methods.
o Interprets geometric dimensioning and tolerancing specifications.
o Performs 1st piece, last piece, and in-process inspection checks
o Evaluates nonconforming material to determine final disposition.
o Provides support to Planning and other Manufacturing processes
o May direct the work of less senior personnel.
o Maintains a safe work environment and ensures compliance with safety objectives and policies.
o Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment.
o Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
o Ability to use computers to prepare appropriate reports and documents
o Uses laser tracker to align components to machine coordinates
o Determines best fit for weldments to optimize Welder Efficiency.
o All other duties as assigned


o Experience with FARO / Leica Laser Tracker, coordinate measuring machine (CMM) OR similar laser inspection equipment is required
o Experience with offline programming using PCDMIS CAD or Spatial Analyzer software.
o Experience operating a global CMM and Faro/Leica Laser Tracker
o Must be comfortable working on or around large machining centers and large fabrications
o Experience with Microsoft Office

Ability to travel out of state for training as needed
Ability to read, write and understand oral and written instructions, information gathered from meters, dials, calibrated scales, visual display units. Ability to receive and understand instructions via radio or phone. Ability to summarize verbal instructions.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Requires analytical knowledge; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret and enforce an extensive variety of legal and regulatory publications.

CMS Level 2 required and renewed before expiration
Lead Auditor Certification desired

Exposure is frequent to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles - eye protection is required, and fumes, machine vibration, and noisy conditions - hearing protection and foot protection are required, high temperatures; and occasional to a restricted space work area.

Associate degree and 2 years work experience or equivalent experience or, high school diploma and 4 years' experience: or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
