Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Instrument Specialist for an opening in Bend, OR.

SUMMARY:
Provides support for analytical instrument qualification and troubleshooting in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Performs troubleshooting and interacts with manufacturers, vendors, contractors to diagnose and repair laboratory equipment. Authors Standard Operating Procedures, Deviation/ Discrepancy Reports, Change Controls, Corrective and Preventive Actions, Risk Assessments, Validation Protocols, and Summary Reports. Initiates Commissioning and Decommissioning procedures. Supports continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains analytical instrumentation in both GMP and development laboratories. Performs maintenance and troubleshoots problems with the following instrumentation: HPLC, GC, PXRD, Dissolution, DSC, FT-IR, KF, etc. Collaborates with internal scientific, analytical, laboratory, and quality functional areas to meet project and team objectives. Manages calibration and qualification schedule and instrument qualification status. Researches, purchases, and commissions new equipment. Decommissions retired equipment. Orders parts and manages inventory. Coordinates with vendors/ manufacturers for on-site or external service, sends equipment out for maintenance, and reviews external documentation. Prepares, executes, and reviews analytical instrument qualifications, preventive maintenance documentation, and calibration certificates. May interact with customers and auditors. Performs all duties in strict compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, and safety guidelines. Maintains the necessary compliance status required by company and facility standards.

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience maintaining, repairing, and/or troubleshooting chromatographic, spectroscopic, or other analytical instrumentation strongly preferred (0.5-2 years). Ideal candidate would also have experience with analytical instrument qualification. Excellent critical and logical thinking skills to solve problems. Ability to leverage on the job experience and apply it to solve new challenges. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. Understanding of GMP and data integrity (ALCOA) is preferred. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures and governmental regulations. Ability to write standard operating procedures, protocols, and reports.

Physical Requirements:
Position requires ordinary ambulatory skills and physical coordination sufficient to move about office locations; ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch periodically for prolonged periods of time; manipulation (lift, carry, move) of light to medium weights of 10-35 pound pounds; arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp and type for prolonged periods of time; visual acuity to use a keyboard, computer monitor, operate equipment, and read materials for prolonged periods of time; ability to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear for prolonged periods of time. Safety glasses, safety shoes, lab coat, latex or similar gloves, safety apron, organic respirator occasionally.

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor’s of Science in Chemistry, Engineering, Biochemistry, Biology, or related science preferred but not required.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience may be considered.

Full-Time
Shift: 8am-5pm

Temp to hire depending on performance

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
