Chipton-Ross is seeking a Senior Corrosion Engineer 5 for an opening in Huntington Beach, CA

This position is to support the ORCA program full-time as a lead engineer on corrosion protection for the entire subsea vehicle. Responsibilities include advising design engineering on best industry practices and material selection, analysis of cathodic corrosion protection, development of test plans and business cases, and risk analysis and management. The position will involve compiling technical data into presentations for multiple audiences (customer, internal, technical-level, executive-level) and regular communication with the program and customer. We are looking for someone who understands the technical aspects of subsea corrosion protection as well as real world applications and can clearly communicate the associated risks and opportunities. This position may expand to other programs in the long term, including air and space vehicles.

o Coordinates definition of complex requirements for tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the manufacture and engineering design of products and approves their use – particularly for applications involving chemical processes either in production or during overhaul of components or assemblies
o Establishes standards for specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, materials, parts and processes
o Represents the Company on technical committees to develop and revise industry standards
o Promotes standardization across the Company
o Leads evaluation of emerging technologies for potential application to business needs
o Establishes standards to qualify new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements
o Leads integration of new technologies
o Reviews and approves test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements Coordinates complex analysis to determine performance or reasons for failures of tools, materials, parts or processes
o Coordinates broadly based corrective and preventive actions
o Leads design, development and qualification of sophisticated computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements
o Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical and schedule requirements
o Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas
o Leads others, establishes work statement, defines strategies and/or provides consultation with peers while keeping management informed
o Develops plans to mitigate corrosion risk
o Resolves complex corrosion issues occurring in-service

o Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
o Experience with corrosion protection of vehicles in subsea environments
o Cathodic corrosion protection experience in marine/subsea environment, including application of sacrificial anodes
o Experience in material selection for variety of components used on subsea vehicles

o Experience in defining and evaluating corrosion testing
o Experience communicating risk and associated mitigation plans to customers
o Experience developing business cases based on technical decisions
o Experience working with the U.S. Navy

Accredited Bachelor's degree and typically 14 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 12 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification.

Less than 25% domestic travel to supplier location as needed.

WORK HOURS: 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM
