Description
Chipton-Ross is seeking a Technician Level 2 for an opening in Orlando, FL.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The technician-level position as a machinist in the Structural and Environmental Lab’s Machine Shop will operate a wide range of machine tools in the precision fabrication of aerospace-grade metals for prototype / development parts and assemblies to support internal customers for research and development projects and contracted programs. The equipment to be utilized include lathe, mill, press, shear, band saw, and grinders. Requested tasks are verified and evaluated with the Manager and test requester and scheduled in an environment where there are often competing and conflicting needs to be resolved. Job status is reported and reviewed as required with the manager. The selected candidate will report directly to the Manager of the S&E Lab Machine Shop and operate in the key section of the Technical Laboratory Services in our PDE Department within Engineering and Technology for the client's and Fire Control Line of Business.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 3-4 years technical fabrication experience in a prototype/development environment, with experience in metal fabrication and mechanical assembly while operating in a teaming environment. Demonstrated competence in fabrication of basic steel and aluminum metal fixtures and tooling using manual milling machines, band saws, manual engine lathes, radial drill presses, and an assortment of hand-powered tools and equipment. Must be able to work flex schedule, overtime, evenings, weekends, etc. and can work onsite daily. Some experience in material handling with rigging (lifting slings and tackle) and competency utilizing powered pallet stackers and powered hoists for lifting heavy materials. Capable of scheduling, de-conflicting, and executing multiple technician activities concurrently. Proficient in computing within a Windows-based MS Office-suite centered environment for communication, scheduling, data processing, basic data transfer, and training. Demonstrated sound writing and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills:
Self-starter able to work within a team environment. Working knowledge with sheet metal skills, bending, forming a plus, and machine tools. Experience with thermos forming

EDUCATION:
Accredited High School Diploma/GED
OR
Equivalent experience/combined education with additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical tasks and 4 years or more of experience.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
