Chipton-Ross is seeking an Engineering Tech forn an opening in Kansas City, MO.

SUMMARY:
This position provides document management support for Transmission and Substation Engineering. Under the direction of the Manager, Documents, draft and track engineering drawings through various stages of design, issue, as-built, review, and in service.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The contract CAD Technician provides document management support for Substation Engineering. Under the guidance of the Document Manager, the contract CAD Technician assists the Engineering Analysts by revising existing drawings from as-built field corrections and, after training, by updating Issued for Construction (IFC) drawing packages. Documents include internal Evergy drawings, external vendor drawings and supporting documents. After additional training, the position will assist the Engineering Tech to liaison between engineering and field personnel who construct or maintain company facilities and to: reate and publish new Issued for Construction drawing packages. Gather technical information and up-to-date drawings for projects.. Create new 3D material coded parts for electrical substation models.. Use the Autodesk Vault 3D parts library to create 3D substation models. Generate drawings based on one-line and substation standards drawings.

Issue Construction Packages for capital and maintenance projects. Work closely with engineers to develop the designs, both Physical and Protection & Control. Assemble the drawing sets into Issued for Construction (IFC) packages with drawing checklists. With engineering approval, publish the assembled IFC in Vault as a multi-sheet PDF. Publish the IFC package to the secure client portal for printing and shipping.

Process As-Built drawings for completed construction projects. Match the drawings against the checklist, update the Item fields to provide status reports. Scan the paper mark-ups and integrate the digital scan with the original CAD drawing file. Publish the drawings in an IN_SERVICE REDLINE state that can be seen by all stakeholders. Send notification emails to all stakeholders, including a SharePoint link to the Item in Vault

Develop 3D Substation Models. Create the 3D Parts Library and merge Parts into 3D Assemblies. Associate the Material Coded Parts with the 3D Assemblies. Automatically generate Bill of Material lists from the 3D Substation Models. Generate 2D Substation elevations and views from the 3D Models

Process Improvement and Customer Support. Participate in document management discussions and training. Create, refine and update document management procedures. Generate drawings based on one-lines and substation standards. Design panel layouts for P&C and physical design projects. Scan, plot, fold, ship, verify, review and stamp paper drawings

REQUIREMENTS:
Questioning Attitude. Attention to Detail. Must be able to perform all essential functions as identified by the Company. Reasonable accommodations may be made upon request to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Proficient in Microsoft Visio. Must be qualified in electronic drafting as evidenced by satisfactorily completing work.

Must be highly proficient in Autodesk CAD products and MS office suite. Necessary skills include excellent written and verbal communication, planning, organizing, prioritizing, team building, and customer service. Must have a satisfactory work record, good attendance, and handle stressful situations appropriately. Prefer knowledge of Electric Power systems and Substation facilities.

Working Conditions:
Most work is performed in an office with occasional travel to other locations within the company.

EDUCATION:
AutoCAD certifications and/or a 2 or 4-year degree in Engineering Technology or a related field. The ideal candidate will have five or more years of drafting and document management. Experience in Autodesk products and Power System design is preferred.

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time
Scheduled working hours are typically Monday through Friday position from 8a – 5p (some flexibility)
