Chipton Ross is seeking a CAD Administrator for an opening in Alameda, CA

The Opportunity
Day to Day you will lead the modeling and drafting practices at company and lead a small group of dedicated Technical Designers to model library parts or assist with surge drafting support. In this role you will coordinate activities between Product Engineering, Production and Enterprise Software, for upgrades and customization of CAD object metadata. You will be on point for communicating to the developers or vendors on what issues needs to be resolved.
How You'll Fulfill Your Mission:
" Develop, release and enforce drafting standards
" Develop/improve and maintain tool customizations, including NX Journals
" Manage Standards, symbols, templates, and PAX files
" Create and maintain a standard hardware library
" Inject library parts with required meta data (qualify hardware)
" Test version updates prior to IT implementation
" Help users with installation & setup issues
" Help users with ongoing use issues
" Manage new-user and version update training
" Work with users to develop/update tool customizations to improve efficiency
" Keep abreast of new versions, features and modules and disseminate information to the user community
" Create models for common HW components
" Field requests for new hardware parts
" Release hardware parts through the sign-off/approval process
" Interface with the community of designers and engineers creating standard hardware geometry and meta data
" Assess and communicate ECN impacts on assemblies to manufacturing and procurement
" Develops, Coordinates, and Conducts standardized tool training across all company sites
Why We Value You
" 5-8 years of Siemens NX Administration experience
" Experience developing, documenting and training to CAD standards, including drafting standards and modeling standards. Familiarity with ASME Y14.4 is a must.
" Experience leading small groups of CAD drafting specialists who are responsible for modeling library parts and assisting design teams during drawing surge periods.
" Experience with extracting user requirements and developing customizes utilities or solutions that meet the needs of the user base.
" Experience with evaluating, executing and training for upgrades for NX.
" Must be knowledgeable with the tools and how they work, have soft skills, team collaboration
" Organizational agility to work across multiple site locations within the organization
" Experience in NX assembly management, file structure, feature-based modeling and data exchange methods
" Ability to evaluate CAD Application functionality, identify gaps in application and business processes and work closely with CAD vendors and user groups for driving product enhancements.
" Must have knowledge of NX modules such as modeling, drafting, sheet metal, and routing.
" Comfortable working in a fast paced and demanding environment while wearing multiple hats
" Strong written and verbal communication skills
" Experience with the Atlassian suite, most importantly Jira
" Willing to work after core business hours and on weekends
" Willing to be on-call to address any business-critical issues
" Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering preferred

Work Schedule
1st shift, 5/40 schedule

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
