Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking a Sheet Metal Technician 3 for an opportunity in Redondo Beach, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
We are looking for an experienced sheet metal technician. They will be provided with light training, supervision and guidance but should be familiar enough with sheet metal fabrication that they are able to work independently while still being comfortable with asking questions or seeking a second opinion. The individual will work with the department lead to be issued their work for the day. They are encouraged to seek training and guidance from the lead and other technicians in the department so that they gain familiarity with reading/interpreting our engineering drawings, how we calculate and apply a sheet metal layout, how to operate the equipment, and what the expectations are for a final, deliverable product. Once they are up to speed, they will be assigned their work for the day (or days, depending on the size or volume of what they are assigned) and will work their statement of work independently until completed and ready for their next assignment. They are also expected to read their e-mails and input labor on their timecards on a daily basis.Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development of mechanical and electromechanical engineering designs, tests, fabrications, modifications, assemblies and components. Drafts detailed drawings for fabrication. Devices, fabricates, and assembles new or modified mechanical components or assemblies. Sets up and tests complete prototype units and subassemblies under operational conditions. Analyzes data and recommends modifications to components or test procedure to meet desired specifications.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma/GED and3+ years of experience.
This individual should know how to perform math/trigonometry to perform sheet metal layout (flat pattern layout), applying math to determine what's known as "set back" or the amount/distance of which the metal stretches and accommodating for that when marking a sheet of metal that will be bent and formed into its final shape and size. They should also be comfortable using shop equipment such as a shear, brake press, band saw, sanding wheel, grinder, mill, pneumatic drill, calipers, height gauge, and various hand tools. It would be nice (but not required) if they had experience operating a forklift and/or overhead crane.

EDUCATION:
High school diploma/GED.
School must be accredited.

HOURS:
9/80 workweek.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
