Chipton-Ross is seeking a Network Design and Analysis Engineer 4 for an opening in Herndon, VA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for developing engineering solutions for satellite networks, systems and electronic components and systems installation,
operations and maintenance including system communications analysis and RF design and analysis.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Experience in SATCOM communications, networking, antennas, and subsystem components, including frequency converters,
modems, low noise amplifiers/blocks, and high power amplifiers
Experience and practical knowledge of antenna and aperture characteristics for application to communications and network
system designs and associated technology and methods
Experience in radio frequency compatibility and multi-discipline integrating issues applicable to communications and network
systems, including primary characteristics such as physical and functional interfaces, communications reliability, link availability,
and environmental constraints
Experience in network analysis and communications systems signal analysis using network, spectrum and circuit analysis tools
Experience testing and validation of system designs to ensure they meet operational and functional requirements
Experience writing and interpreting engineering/technical Statements of Work (SOWs)
Experience analyzing and translating requirements into system architecture, hardware and software designs and interface
specifications
Experience working with customers to develop complex electronic, electrical, and/or power system requirements
PREFERRED DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience generating and analyzing RF link budgets.
Experience in antenna design/modeling and performance validation.
Knowledge of communications and network system power system requirements.
Experience designing and validating products & systems against operational environmental standards (i.e. ISO & MIL).
Experience applying filtering techniques and implementing architectures for analog and digital designs.
Technologically relevant signal processing experience (incl. sampling theorem and quantization).
Technologically relevant experience in timing and synchronization principles (e.g., time of arrival, time of effectively, phaselocked
loops) for signal recovery, geolocation and sensor system function.
Experience with Communication & Network System Standards. Knowledge of and the ability to apply communications and
network systems regulatory requirements (e.g., Federal Aviation Agency [FAA] regulations, Military Specifications, National.
Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), Federal Communications Commission [FCC] regulations) and
standards (e.g., safety, military, emissions, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineering [IEEE], ARINC, Engineering
International Association [EIA]).
Technologically relevant experience with physical modeling techniques for backgrounds, noise and clutter. Experience with
processing techniques for suppression and/or rejection of backgrounds, noise and clutter.
Experience with applied and environmental physics (e.g., propagation, attenuation, absorption, performance factors,
polarization) and their effects across the spectrum.
l Knowledge of programming languages (e.g., C++, Matlab, Visual Basic, C, Assembly, C#, Java).
Knowledge of modeling and prototyping tools (e.g., Matlab, MathCAD, manufacturer specific tools for signal processing
software).
Proficient at MS Office software suite (incl. Visio).
l Team experience (Agile work environment, formal technical/customer presentations).
l Proficient at technical writing (e.g., proposals, white papers, SOWs, presentations, etc.)
EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
