Chipton-Ross is seeking a Systems Engineer for a contract opportunity in Nashville, TN.

The vital role of a Systems Engineer is responsible for evaluating complex technical issues and providing system-engineering solutions. The Systems Engineer will develop designs and systems into new and existing technical documentation after performing engineering assessments and will also implement those designs when necessary. This individual will also be responsible for contributing to the completion of programs by documenting requirements, creating a schedule and tracking items to closure. The Systems Engineer, Principal is an internal expert and thought leader in systems engineering with broad experience across multiple job areas and advanced level business knowledge and leadership capabilities, who in accordance with senior leadership, champions new systems and processes and develops operational goals with direct impact to the achievement of departmental and business strategies.
o Incorporate and develop new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations and develop associated technical documentation and processes
o Provide engineering evaluations, analysis and documentation that contributes to Design Reviews, Peer Reviews and Technical Interchanges
o Support product development efforts under the guidance of senior engineers and project leadership
o Elicit highly technical requirements from stakeholders, and create and maintain technical documentation
o Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customer, user and other associated project team members
o Evaluate and determine technical approaches to support decisions for various programs
o Create reports, documents and presentations for program and leadership meetings
o Manage configuration control of interconnected systems including software, hardware and firmware
o Travel to customer locations without supervision and provide onsite ISR mission system level support for US Government and DOD Prime contractor to ensure system performance and mission success
o Work with suppliers to determine the technical capabilities, delivery schedules and associated costs
o Perform all job functions with a positive, professional attitude

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
o Must have an in-depth systems engineering background specifically with experience in leading and collaborating with a diverse background of organizations and teams to accomplish whole system solutions or changes.
o Ability to review and analyze high-level technical needs, and through a structured and logical approach refine the need into an integrated set of requirements and implementation projects
o Mastery level understanding of systems change and configuration management
o Applicant should be a proficient communicator to all skill sets and levels of the organization, be able to respond effectively to changing situations, and be able to properly prioritize, status, and work multiple tasks.
o Mastery level understanding of the impacts of US Government Information Assurance and regulations on system design and changes.
o Experience with the application of systems engineering tools for requirements management, risk management and systems decommissioning and disposal activities
o Experience working with project planning, requirement management and scheduling
o Demonstrated experience and/or training in the integration of requirements, design and technology during the design and development of complex systems
o Demonstrated experience and/or training in product development and associated development life cycle
Preferred Skills, Experience and Education:
In addition to the required skills, experience in the following items are highly valued:

o Military Airborne Mission System operation and sustainment
o Leading a Systems Engineering IPT.
o Requirements flow down and traceability for complex Software/Hardware Systems
o Understand physical architectures incorporating voice, video, and data capability across multiple security domains
o Understand test, integration, verification, and validation planning
o Write effective verification test procedures ensuring system performance and capabilities meet system requirements
o Translate the voice of the customer into system level requirements
o Perform requirement traceability
o Develop and evaluate trade studies for accuracy and completeness
o Write subsystem specifications based on system level requirements
o Evaluate alternative solutions and establish preliminary system designs
o Review and evaluate diagrams to ensure design details trace to system requirements
o Prepare effective presentations to communicate technical information to non-technical professionals

o Bachelors of Science Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical or Software Engineering, or a related technical field with 12 years minimum prior relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Master's Degree is highly desired.
