Chipton-Ross is seeking a mechanical engineer for a hybrid contract opportunity in Skaneateles , NY.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Overview
A successful candidate in this role will engage in mechanical engineering activities as part of a broader team to develop new medical products. This role will ensure effective resolution to design related issues, develop new products to grow the business, and ensure compliance with product related standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate as a member of a cross-functional new product development team and contribute to the design of a new medical device
• Generate design solutions to technical challenges with support from other mechanical team members (engineers, designers, technicians, etc.) using sound engineering principles
• Drive designs through modeling, prototyping, testing, drawing release, and into production
• Perform simulation and engineering analysis to assess design alternatives
• Work with Systems Engineering to develop testable requirements and support through testing.
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering and suppliers to apply principles of design for manufacturability and design for affordability
• Conduct impact analysis for design changes and implement necessary actions
• Support project planning with estimates of cost, resources, and time

REQUIREMENTS:
• 2-4 years of relevant work experience
• Experience working in a regulated environment such as Medical, Defense or Aerospace
Preferred Skills
• Demonstrated ability with 3D Modeling (Creo 7.0 is preferred)
• Demonstrated proficiency with simulation and engineering analysis techniques and tools (ANSYS Workbench is preferred)
• Knowledgeable in manufacturing methods and associated trade-offs, for plastic molded and machined components in particular
• Proficient problem-solving skills
• Desire to learn and continuously grow into roles with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Ability to communicate technical complexities and trade-offs with business and technical audiences
• Flexible team player who is organized, dependable, and proactive
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Knowledge of Project Management principles
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent.

SHIFT:
Full-Time-1st Shift

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
