Chipton-Ross is seeking aSoftware Engineer 3 for a contract/hybrid opportunity in Oklahoma City, OK, St. Louis, MO or Colorado Springs, CO

*Position will start remote, but candidates must be able to work Hybrid in the future and be willing to eventually relocate to either Oklahoma City, St. Louis, or Colorado Springs. Candidates located near these locations are preferred.*

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software systems. Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system. Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met. Performs software project management and software supplier management functions. Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics. Executes and documents software research and development projects. Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations. Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards. Works under general direction.

Interacting with customers to formulate their needs into specific requirements and then defining and building frameworks to support solutions for them will be a key part of the job. Experience navigating back-end development in a secure environment is important to success. Developing robust user interfaces, developing Extract-Transform-Load pipelines, and working as part of a team in an agile environment will all be key components of the position.
Together with our larger team, you will work with cutting edge analytics tools to create solutions that help manage the health and operations of aircraft for users across the world.

The successful candidate will have a strong software engineering and data engineering backgrounds, with proven experience implementing a wide variety of software in cloud environments.
Robust knowledge of data formats, architectures, and security are all foundational to the position. Knowledge and experience using Java, Python and SQL is critical, however knowledge of other programming languages such as C++, and R is also desirable. Prior aviation and engineering knowledge are both helpful as well. Excellent communication and teamwork ability are critical for success.

REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Two years of relevant experience
• Proficiency using SQL
• Proficiency using Java

DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or another similar technical background is preferred.
• Familiarity with tools such as PostgreSQL, Angular, Echarts, Java, Spring Boot, Python, and other software development tools is preferred.
• Experience and familiarity with cloud-based tools is preferred.
• Advanced understanding of military aircraft systems
• Engineering domain knowledge relating to aircraft maintenance, design, or testing are desirable.
• Understanding of software engineering development processes and tools, from inception to production.
• Familiarity with Condition-based maintenance techniques.
• Experience with project management, including with agile development techniques.

EDUCATION:
Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry, (e.g. Bachelor and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT
WORK HOURS: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

MISCELLANEOUS:

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
