- Chipton-Ross is seeking an EHS Specialist for a contract opportunity in Frederick, MD.
Inspire a culture where employees at all levels take ownership for safety. Engagement employees in safety initiatives to eliminate or control safety hazards and reduce risk of an injury or environmental exposure. Be a Safety Ambassador for the site. Participate in and encourage associate participation in site safety initiatives including Safety Gemba walks, Hazard ID and Near Miss Reporting, Safety Inspections, and Safety Council activities. Provide assistance to the EHS Manager in the development and implementation of training programs to meet regulatory requirements and best management practice needs to drive EHS excellence. Conduct safety training including but not limited to Emergency Response, Hazard Communications and New Hire Orientation as assigned. Assist site team members in problem solving to resolve employee safety concerns and implement recommendations where appropriate. Review and work with site team members to maintain Job Safety Analyses and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Assessments and update shared folders and iConnect sites as needed. Schedule waste pickups as required by the site. Ensure emergency signage and lists are up-to-date. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential environmental and workplace hazards, programs deficiencies and liabilities. Present corrective action recommendations to site leadership. Assist in the maintenance of the site information on the SHED database and track corrective action items to completion. Track EHS KPI's for the site to meet corporate and regulatory requirements. Assist in conducting the investigation of incidents and near-miss incidents. Work with supervisors and managers to maintain information in SHED and track action items to closure. Provide assistance to the Site EHS Manager in performing environmental compliance duties including wastewater reporting, storm water inspections and other duties as assigned. Use LEAN manufacturing methodology and LEAN tools (Kaizen events, process mapping, benchmarking, and root cause analysis) to drive workplace safety improvement. Promote the strong connection between PPI (Practical Process Improvement)/Lean initiatives and safety programs.
Knowledge of EHS. Understanding of identifying hazardous workplace conditions, near misses, and GEMBA walks. Ability to use a computer. Typing skills and entry accuracy. Email - Outlook. Moderate Skill set in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) with the ability to update data and generate reports. Professional communication skills with internal associates and external suppliers. Written for email communications. Verbal for telephone communications. Normally receives limited instruction on routine work. Perform work in compliance with established procedures. Demonstrate active listening through full attention. Be able to present verbal and written information clearly. Read and understand analyses and reports, interpret technical procedures and government regulations, and write reports and business correspondence and procedures.
Accredited Associates potentially with experience
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm OT welcome
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
