Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Engineer Software 3's for a contract opportunity in San Diego, CA.

Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software. Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. Ensures software standards are met.

Acts as an Individual contributor on an engineering team, may act as a scrum master or thread lead.
Strong understanding of C/C++ including templates, memory storage, and compiler/linker.
Strong understanding of RTOS environments and operating characteristics, such as: WindRiver, GreenHills, or Redhawk
Basic understanding of Board Support Packages, their development and integration
Strong understanding SW architecture such as:
- Software/hardware interfaces and where they exist in the architecture
- Event driven (Interrupts), polling and synchronous software architectures
- Layered software architectures (e.g. Application, System, Device)

Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of related engineering experience, or a Master's Degree and 3 years of experience, or 0 years of experience with a PhD.
Familiarity HW I/O interfaces such as:
- RS-232, 429, 1553, 1394, CAN, Discrete & Analog I/O
Able to perform Object Oriented Design (OOAD)
Experience with merging and synchronizing code across multiple baselines.
Able to identify/debug performance or timing issues on the target.
Basic understanding of MMU, profiling execution, and optimizing code in an RTOS.
Familiarity with test/debug tools, such as:
- Wireshark, Tcpdump, Oscilloscopes, JTAG/ICE, FireSpy, AltaDT bus monitors,
Understanding of python language constructs as well as familiarity with commonly used modules.

Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with OS partitions and isolation architectures
Understand importance of redundancy architectures and difference between flight critical and non flight critical software.
Understanding of differences between a desktop vs. target build configuration, and the limitations of each.
Understanding of 2 of the following redundancy concepts:
- CCDL, hot/warm restarts, sync, duplex vs triplex vs quad implementations
Familiarity with System, Subsystem, and SRS requirements (DOORS)
Understanding of architectural requirements for airworthiness certifications
Familiarity of Cyber impacts to and executing in an RTOS.

Bachelor's Degree required.
School must be accredited.

9/80 workweek.
