Chipton-Ross is seeking an RN Occupational Health Nurse for a contract opportunity in Canoga Park, CA.

The Occupational Health Nurse classifications perform medical evaluations and treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses in emergency and non-emergency situations; perform first aid and carry out treatment for injuries and illnesses to determine and arrange for disposition of employees in accordance with accepted nursing practices and physician's standing orders; refer serious injuries to Company or employee's physician; provide follow-up care to employee injuries, applying subsequent dressings and related minor care actions; perform medical documentation of care provided per protocols and procedures and prepares incident reports; provides appropriate Worker's Compensation information to ensure proper disposition of claims; serves as the disability case coordinator, while maintaining compliance with ADA, AA, FMLA and State Workers Compensation regulations; coordinates the return to work program; participates in the formulation and administration of the organization's overall health programs including managing, planning and coordinating local wellness activities and programs including EAP, providing training for medical response teams, advising and counseling employees on health problems and providing health education information, and maintaining records of training; performs necessary testing in support of the organization's substance abuse policy; may participate in related health and safety programs such as hearing protection, respiratory, safety glasses, bloodmobile programs, etc.; maintains inventory of required materials for nursing station.

Professional principles, procedures and techniques of nursing State of practice laws and regulations on nursing Symptoms, normal cause and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses Standard medical record keeping, including electronic medical records Computer systems and applicable computer applications to perform the essential functions of the job Community resources for medical care Substance abuse symptoms and intervention techniques Medications commonly used for a wide variety of medical conditions, their effects and contraindications Proper handling and administering of medications Safety rules and regulations Workers' Compensation regulations and applicable labor laws Applicable regulations, guidelines and policy relating to Occupational Health Ability to:
Interpret and apply laws and regulations Work cooperatively with medical care providers Effectively intervene in cases of substance abuse and other similar conditions Effectively train others Maintain patient confidentiality Apply sound medical judgment and protocols in treatment, treatment planning and similar activities Recognize and take immediate action in emergency and immediate need medical cases Communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing Prioritize and categorize data in various formats for reports Effectively interface with outside organizations and representatives of professional organizations such as hospitals, clinics, trauma centers, insurance claim representatives, investigators and other medical care providers Effectively interface with all levels of personnel and to operate in a team environment Participate in in-service education and training programs Obtain certifications for DOT urine drug collection, NIOSH spirometry and audiometry or any other certification deemed necessary at specific sites Maintain medical records, assuring confidentiality for all patients

Minimum Degree Required: Accredited Associate's Degree (Community College, MBO)

Accredited Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline and 2 (two) to 5 (five) years related experience.


Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
