Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking a Technical Writer for a remote contract opportunity in Bingen, WA.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drafts, revises, and reviews all technical publication elements for a major equipment system to include the following: Handbooks, Pocket Reference Guides, Illustrated Parts Catalogs, Work Instructions, and Checklists, Bulletins and Advisories. Reviews technical publication product requirements. Determines product elements/scope and develops time/resource estimates. Develops source materials, interviews subject matter experts and reviews drawings/specifications. Applies style standards and integrates and sequences content. Defines illustrations, diagrams, photographs and charts requirements. Conducts usability reviews. Observes production and operational activities. Validates technical publication accuracy. Reviews documents for consistent application of style, format/quality standards and revises as needed. Coordinates technical documents for comments and approvals. Maintains configuration control and tracks revisions. Organizes content for publication and develops electronic documentation.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Documentation, listed above, be created, revised, and reviewed in support of the following equipment:

Launchers
Skyhooks
ScanEagle Air Vehicles
Integrator Air Vehicles
Propulsion Modules
Payloads
Ground Control Stations (Land and Maritime)
Ground Support Equipment
Training Devices
Miscellaneous documentation such as Hazardous Materials Document, List of applicable publications, etc.
Experience required to successfully perform these tasks:
Professional Technical Writing development experience. Knowledge of editing processes, practices, techniques, editing marks, reference materials, and tools.
Knowledge of Maintenance Task / Procedures and ability to examine available data (e.g., maintenance data, reliability data, systems descriptions, schematics, functional tests, and/or performance Maintenance Task Analysis (MTA) to develop trouble shooting and task procedures for authoring documents according to standards and formats (e.g., illustration requirements, detailed views, flow charts and pictures).

ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Professional experience in the following technologies: as applicable.
Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio)
ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (STE)
S1000D specification for the procurement and production of technical publication
Sharepoint, Confluence, JIRA
Knowledge of procedures and specifications (S1000D) for creating Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) (e.g., information parsing, task linking) based on Document Type Definitions (DTD) using IETM authoring software.
Asciidocs preferred, but not required. Needs to be willing and able to learn Asciidocs tool.
Full documentation, transfer of knowledge (including technical training if applicable) from the Supplier to Client Technical Publications of all designs and implementation delivered under this subcontract.
Participate in Client Technical Publications development activities, including but not limited to, daily stand-ups, demos, design reviews, status reviews, planning and retrospectives.


PREFERRED DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Technical Writing experience in Aerospace preferred.

Accredited Bachelor's Degree

SHIFT:
Full-Time

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
