Chipton-Ross is seeking a Technical Editor and Writer 3 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences. Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals. Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts. Conducts quality review of materials.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
6 Years with Bachelor's Degree in related field; 4 years of relevant professional experience with a Master's Degree
o Naval Nuclear Propulsion Experience
o Familiar with software troubleshooting
o 5 or more years' experience in researching, editing, writing, and developing technical manuals
o Experience in Standard Generalized Makeup Language (SGML).
This position is intended for the hardware integration group in E70. The incumbent will be responsible for development and maintenance of component technical manuals. The position regularly communicates with the Navy, NNL, and Engineers/Designers across departments via email, phone, and in person meeting. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Paint Editor and must be knowledgeable of Adobe Acrobat, Windows, and Internet Explorer/Edge.
PREFERRED:
AutoCAD experience is a plus, but is not required.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree is required.
School must be accredited.
HOURS:
5/40 workweek. 07:30 AM-04:00 PM
