Description


Chipton-Ross is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for a direct opportunity in Huntsville, AL.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
90% - As a contributor to a software development team performing requirements analysis, design, implementation, unit test and integration of embedded real-time control system and/or application software. Participate in the development of software development documentation. Support internal and customer reviews of software development work products. Support the preparation of program milestone reviews: SRR, CoDR, PDR, CDR and TRR.
10% - Support software development process improvement by assessing software process metrics, identifying process gaps, creating and evaluating process improvement options, reviewing and improving metric definition and collection methods, evaluating industry tools and other resources to promote the continued growth and maturity of the software organization

REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in the following areas required:
- 2+ years of experience in embedded real-time control systems and/or application software development
- 2+ years of experience developing C/C++ code - Solid verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated team work experience
Desired Requirements:
- Real-time OS (vxWorks/Integrity/Redhat Linux/NI Linux/QNX) experience
- Communications Protocols (1553, TCP/IP, RS-422, & ScramNet)
- Knowledge of assembly/machine-level languages, Microsoft Visual Studio IDE, Code Composer Studio, Eclipse and Tortoise SVN
- Familiarity with software development lifecycle management tools (Atlassian: Bamboo, Confluence, Crowd, Crucible, Fisheye, and JIRA)
- Understanding of CMMI Level 3 and greater software processes preferred
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. Depending on the location of the position, visual certification requirement may apply.

EDUCATION:
Requires a Bachelor's in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering and two (2)or more years of engineering experience in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Requirements:
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering

These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
