Chipton Ross is seeking a Customs Entry Writer for a direct hire opportunity in Plainfield, IN.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a customs entry writer, your primary responsibilities are to review import and export documents, ensure that all customs invoices and shipment papers are present, ensure that documentation is in agreeance with customs regulation, prepare paperwork for clearance, and process entry for clearance.
o Ensure accuracy of billing is being.
o Coordinate efforts and communication with Operations department.
o Create and prepare customer status reports on a regular basis.
o Monitor problem files and implement corrective action when needed.
o Document review and assessment of accuracy, verifying country of origin/export, IOR, terms of sale and value to ensure that compliance and federal regulation requirements are achieved.
o Daily follow-up on documentation discrepancy issues which requires the ability to troubleshoot and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with customers and foreign origins.
o Escalate any unresolved issues or risks before they materially impact the organization.
o Work closely with other departments and branches to deliver high level of service to customers.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
o Ensure compliance with Custom's regulations.
REQUIRED EXPEIRENCE:
o Prior logistics experience and Brokerage experience - 2 years minimum
o Ability to communicate persuasively and with confidence, professionalism and authority at all levels of the business.
o Sound judgment, with a well-developed sense for risk identification, assessment and management.
o Demonstrated experience in conducting reviews of compliance certifications, agreements, and regulatory procedural documents to determine gaps and opportunities for improvement.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to respond effectively to confidential inquiries
o Understand importance and meets deadlines
o Must have familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures and regulations
o Critical thinker, capable of discerning the nuances and subtleties of complex compliance issues.
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma
SCHEDULE:
First shift, full time
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
