Chipton Ross is seeking a Controller for a direct hire opportunity in Plainfield, IN.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of accounting activities of the Account Department. Assignments include researching support, compiling and posting month-end journal entries, completing balance sheet account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls. Respond to non-routine complex inquiries in assigned areas requiring judgment and the application of GAAP and Client Logistics policies, procedures and practices.
o Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements.
o Prepare annual budget.
o Contributes to departmental goals, sets & implements departmental procedures to ensure accuracy and timely reporting requirements are met.
o Ensures proper internal controls are in place and monitored through monthly self-testing.
o Examine accounting records.
o Analyze financial statements for areas of revenue improvement and cost control.
o Ensures month end close is performed timely, compliant, and accurate as well as quarterly, and year end close processes.
o Assist Accounting Department with projects, research and system related tasks as assigned.
o Compile and provide audit support as requested by auditors.
o Provide functional advice or training in the department.
o Analysis and Projection for Investment decision paper for WH expansion
o Drafting Investment Decision paper
o Analysis and challenge the operational and financial results of the sites
o Guarantees adherence to the Budget for each site, anticipates deviations and defines the necessary corrective actions
o Pro-actively delivers the local financial analysis needed to support site-level decisions (quarterly performance reviews)
o Monthly and Quarterly comments for results basis inputs from accounting team and business
o Presents the Financial Analysis: analyzing the contracts of the clients.
o Monitors the management of the resulting actions.
o Oversees financial validations of existing client portfolio
o Promotes cross-site improvement by proposing new initiatives (for example, continuous improvement)
o Develops performance analysis by benchmarking with other companies or within the client Group
o Develops, whenever possible, performance comparisons between sites and spreads best practices
Required Experience:
o 5+ years of management experience required in accounting, preferably in Freight Forwarding or 3PL
o 5+ years of experience as a CPA
o CMA &/or MBA a plus
o Excellent communication
o Strong desire to learn and grow.
o Bachelor's Degree in accounting or equivalent experience highly preferred
o Strong Leadership skills
o Team player with ability to work with cross-functional teams and all levels of management
o Ability and experience in managing others and prioritizing work
o Ability to train and instruct others on how to perform tasks
o Accustomed to working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
o Languages: English, Spanish and German is a Plus but not mandatory
Education:
CMA/MBA in Accounting required.
Schedule:
First shift, full time
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
