Chipton-Ross is seeking a Safety Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Camden, AR.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 20% - Perform hazard analysis and risk assessments. Assists in accident investigations and recommends corrective actions. Assists in routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate hazards. Manage projects related to energetics and safety; including participation in incident investigation, risk management, and process hazard analysis.
- 20% - Provide site leadership with guidance on regulatory requirements, including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, ADEQ, NFPA, ISO, and ANSI. Conduct routine audits and inspections to identify and eliminate non-compliance issues. Provide mentoring and leadership to line supervision related to safety and environmental issues; including but not limited to incident investigations, toolbox talks, job safety analyses. Conduct training and communication campaigns to raise site-wide awareness.
- 20% - Data management; including creating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) using an SH&E Data Management Software program (SPHERA) and other tools (Windows Suite: Outlook, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint). Requires a proactive approach to mine data, make data-driven decisions, and promote projects.
- 10% - Serve as interface and liaisons with employees, manager, customers, auditors, and regulators. Assist in compliance audits and periodic reviews by product customers, governmental regulators (e.g. FM Global, DCMA, etc.).
- 10% - Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The work environment may require a combination of indoor and outdoor activity (hot, cold, wet, humid conditions) with a varied amount of mobility including: walking, standing, sitting, climbing (i.e. ladders, stair, scaffolding, ramps), balance (maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces), bending, reaching, handling/fingering (seizing, holding, grasping, turning picking, pinching), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50 pounds. Office environments may include use of standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Some aspects of the work may require vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. Ability to distinguish colors may also be necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience in project management
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-function/cross-site teams
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Process Safety Management (PSM)
- Familiar with AutoCAD and GIS software such as ArcGIS and ArcMap
- Knowledgeable in munitions, explosives, and energetic materials, and related disciplines, the effects of munitions, the means of preventing or reducing explosive mishaps, and the relationship between quantity-distance siting criteria and personnel safety
- Read and understand facility site schematics and building design plans
Candidates are expected to operate effectively in a team environment.
Work may require the ability to operate material handling equipment (forklift, crane, hoist, man lift, etc.) in a safe manner. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, shop coat, FR clothing, and respiratory protection. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization. While performing the duties of this job, employees may work around variable noise levels or with fume or airborne particles, explosives, hazardous chemicals, etc. requiring the use of personal protective equipment such as face protection (safety glasses, goggles, face shield), foot protection (i.e. steel toed shoes, rubber boots, etc.), gloves, hard hat, shop coat and hearing protection. Work requires the ability to change into or out of personal protective equipment when entering or exiting manufacturing, laboratory, or other areas. Some employees may be required to drive between various locations within the Company facility or between locations. Medical clearance maybe required for some aspects of the role. Note respirator use requires that the employee be able to make an appropriate seal.
EDUCATION:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Safety, or a related discipline and at least two (2) years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
SHIFT:
9/80
Candidates must be willing and available to work other shifts or overtime as needed to meet production schedules.
MISCELLANEOUS:

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
