Chipton-Ross is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer for a contract opportunity in Canoga Park, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide structural analysis and dynamics loads support for rocket propulsion components and assemblies from concept through final detailed design. Must have experience using ANSYS (or Workbench) on Structural Analysis specifically (not fluid analysis). The selected candidate will:
Assist other analysts and designers engaged with development and production of new and existing liquid rocket engines, propulsion system components and secondary structure including bolted joints.
Perform structural analyses utilizing class hand-calculation methods and finite element models.
Construct and solve static and dynamic finite element models with ANSYS Participate in dynamic test planning and execution.
Correlate structural models to test results.
Interpret analytical results, assess design margins and prepare technical reports
REQUIREMENTS:
Ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of engineering experience performing structural analyses of liquid rocket engines or solid rocket motors components and systems.
Demonstrated experience performing linear, non-linear and structural dynamic analyses supporting design, development and production qualification of new or updated products is required.
Proficiency using finite element analysis tools such as ANSYS is required.
Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts is desired.
Must have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and Power Point) is required.
EDUCATION:
This position requires an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics and at least 5 years of engineering experience with structural analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master's degree preferred but not required.
