Chipton-Ross is seeking an Engineer Electrical 3 for a contract opportunity in Newport News, VA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is in support of the Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carrier propulsion plant engineering team responsible for large, complex, electromechanical machinery within the propulsion plant. Specifically, this role performs lifecycle support for the Emergency Diesel Generator, including design, maintenance, and troubleshooting from procurement through testing and fleet support. Engineering and critical thinking principles will be applied to develop technical solutions to complex problems and proactively maintain design integrity of electromechanical components and control systems. Responsibilities include project management, design oversight, manufacturing oversight, qualification testing, technical analysis, deviation resolution, and technical leadership. Candidate should be able to communicate effectively and clearly present technical approaches and findings both verbally and in writing.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
- Knowledge of generators and control systems
- Experience proposing and reviewing control system software changes to validate design integrity/improvement
- Experience working with Navy, equipment suppliers, and equipment installation teams.
- Experience leading a team of 2-4 junior engineers.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Department of Defense/military products. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program experience preferred.
- Experience with end-user support and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrates basic engineering project management skills (weekly reporting, organization of plans, chair meetings/briefings)

EDUCATION:
Bachelors in Science is required.
School must be accredited.

HOURS:
5/40 workweek, First Shift 7:30 AM - 4:00. May consider part-time remote work.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
