Chipton-Ross is seeking a Project Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Redmond, WA.
SUMMARY:
Provides leadership in support of program tasks and hardware technology development test efforts. The successful candidate may support both development and production programs. Among the duties will be customer presentations and submittals, as well as coordinating activities with internal organizations such as Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Quality, and Test.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- 20% - Lead engineering support for the production of high-performance electric, mono-propellant, and/or bi-propellant rocket engines. This includes requirements management, anomaly resolution, and anomaly prevention.
- 20% - Plan and conduct engine hot fire tests and analyze data.
- 15% - Support component development and qualification, including supplier oversight and management.
- 15% - Provide hardware fabrication support, including non-conformance resolution.
- 10% - Present results at internal and external meetings.
- 10% - Conduct performance, fluid dynamics and other engineering analysis as required in support of trade studies and programs.
- 10% - Support proposal activities and manage internal research and development efforts, as necessary.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent writing skills, verbal communication skills, and experience working in a team environment are required.
- Some travel may be required within the United States to customers and suppliers.
- Experience leading technical teams.
- Experience with rocket engine or electric propulsion technology development is preferred.
- A solid understanding of applicable engineering principles, business practices, and experience working directly with hardware in the aerospace industry is highly desirable.
- Experience with mono-propellant, bi-propellant, and rocket propulsion systems desired.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field and at least nine (9) years experience (fourteen (14) years for Sr. Specialist level) in propulsion at the thruster or system level (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).
SHIFT:
9/80Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
