- Chipton Ross is seeking a Quality Engineer for a direct position in Red Oak, TX.
SUMMARY:
The Quality Engineer 3 provides technical support to production operations and helps establish the quality system and production inspection related activities on their assigned project(s). The Quality Engineer 3 position has knowledge of relevant technologies and can operate unassisted on routine tasks on a deployed multi-functional team and helps ensure the quality system meets stakeholder requirements including technical compliance, adherence to production processes and standards, and business case (including quality, delivery, and cost). Supports the production process with technical knowledge for tooling, part fabrication, assembly, and delivery. Supports implementation of "state of the art" processing technology as it applies to both materials and techniques for tooling, part fabrication and assembly.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works under occasional supervision from senior engineers and program leadership in a team environment.
Skills should align with working knowledge of process development, process control, manufacturing support and related technical activities in an aerospace production environment:
a. Subject matter expert for manufacturing of composite components and large aerospace composite and metallic assemblies ensuring parts, assemblies, and tools meet industry standards and customer requirements.
b. A key member of team(s) that work from engineering requirements to develop inspection processes & methodologies, including providing guidance to lesser experienced team members; deploys First Part Qualification (FPQ) and First Article Inspection (FAI) methods.
c. Responsible for implementation of inspection tooling, equipment, and production planning, from original concept through to production. Responsible for validating of tooling functionality and or part conformity, and production part quality in timely manner to support the customer delivery schedule.
d. Identifies and coordinates introduction of new technology in line with the assigned Program / Value Stream requirements.
e. Supporting the Make vs. Buy & subsequent supplier selection process.
f. Adheres to all applicable business & quality processes and procedures such as FAA, DoD, Export Control, ITAR, Nadcap, AS9100 and customer contractual requirements.
g. Has knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma Tools to predict and improve process yield. Some level of related formal certification is preferred.
h. Supports deployment of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) tools to evaluate customer designs and process concepts and assist in manufacturing process down select.
i. Has knowledge of Practical Problem-Solving techniques such as A3, 8D, 5 Why, Ishikawa Diagrams, and Pareto Analysis to determine the origin of a failure, its impact to overall business, and determine containment and countermeasure actions to eliminate recurrence of nonconformances.
j. Publishes Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) and associated metrics such as Product Safety, Quality (including yield, cost of poor quality, non-conformances), Delivery (completion of Process Engineering related activities in line with the agreed schedule), Recurring and Non-Recurring Costs.
k. Occasionally the primary technical representative for customer and supplier technical topics and reviews as required.
l. Maintain positive team relationships with internal and external customers, as well as peers.
m. Other related duties as required due to changes in business processes or customer requirements.
REQUIREMENTS:
" Experience with the manufacturing processes of large to medium composite and/or metallic structures
" Ability to understand, communicate and present complex technical information to a wide audience.
" Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
" Self-motivated and able to proactively recognize and prioritize business needs with minimal guidance.
" Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) is required. Experience with CATIA and/or 3DX preferred.
" Understanding of engineering principles & practices such as geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, model definition, tolerance analysis, and engineering bill of materials.
" Working knowledge of Process/Product Configuration Control and Change Management.
" Strong mechanical aptitude, great attention to detail and exceptional communication skills
" Experience with AS9145 (APQP and PPAP) and ability to execute and lead a group to completion of all APQP outputs (PFMEA, Control Plan, MSA, PPAP, etc.) preferred. AS13100 experience a plus.

" May be required to reach with arms and hands and to stoop, kneel or crouch.
EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor's degree (STEM preferred) with 6+ years of related work experience or Associates degree with 8+ years of related aerospace experience, or 10+ years of experience in an aerospace Quality Assurance or Aerospace Mechanic role.
WORK HOURS:
Full-Time -1st Shift, 4/10 Schedule
