Chipton-Ross is seeking a Senior Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Jupiter, FL.
SUMMARY:
This position requires the selected candidate to have excellent structural dynamic analysis skills that will be applied to the design, development and testing of flight propulsion products. The individual will join a senior staff engaged in development and production activities related to new and existing propulsion technologies. In this role, you will perform structural dynamics analysis and test support activities as part of a team to provide design guidance and verify product designs meet structural and performance requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working under limited general direction and exercising considerable latitude in determining methods and approaches, the Specialist Engineer performs structural dynamic analysis as part of a team to provide design guidance and verify product designs to meet structural, thermal and performance requirements.
60% - Perform structural dynamic analyses utilizing classic hand calculation methods and finite element models. Conduct static and dynamic structural analyses. Provide support to structural dynamics production engine testing, full engine qualification testing, and bench qualification testing activities (vibration, shock, acoustic etc.) and assess measured data against requirements. Support flight data analysis activities. Analyze dynamic response data from engine tests to define dynamic environments and for structural health monitoring. Define instrumentation requirements for testing. Correlate analysis models and test results. Provide assessment of the products ability to satisfy internal structural requirements as well as those flowed by the customer.
20% - Report status and results of analysis tasks at design and program reviews.
20% - Prepare technical reports documenting all analysis activities.
REQUIREMENTS:
An ideal candidate would have 5+ years of directly related dynamic analysis experience demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility; and significant structural dynamics finite element analysis and vibration test support experience.Experience using finite element analysis tools such as Ansys & Nastran required. Familiarity analyzing dynamic data and supporting system and component testing preferred. Ability to mentor younger engineers and support definition and documentation of processes and approaches preferred. Knowledge and experience with aerospace product development efforts a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) is expected.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat.
EDUCATION:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline and five (5) years of directly related dynamic analysis experience (or an equivalent combination of experience and education). Master's degree a plus. Solid academic track record expected. Coursework and experience in performing static and dynamic structural analyses supporting design, development and production qualification desired.
