Chipton-Ross is seeking an Affordability Engineer for a contract opportunity in Canoga Park, CA.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
80% -Affordability Engineering Support of AR Programs. Typical duties may include, but not be limited to, the following: -Lead should-cost estimates for proposals. -Lead estimates of propulsion system costs and associated component costs. - Lead Design-to-Cost efforts on programs. -Build a strong working relationship with the other employees to ensure that the group's capabilities are fully utilized and that the group's results are meeting customer needs.
20% -Discipline Support and/or Training and Education: -Create and improve training materials and possibly deliver training sessions. -Identify and lead discipline initiatives. - Lead discipline coordination meetings.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Design to Cost and/or Affordability Engineering experience is required
- Experience with COTS parametric and other hardware modeling tools is highly desired
- Advanced Excel skills
- Familiarization with spacecraft and/or launch vehicle systems is preferred
- PRICE TruePlanning experience / familiarity highly desirable
- Ability to lead or assist with estimates of propulsion system costs and associated component costs
- Experience with program / project management desirable
- Familiarity with Bill of Materials development
- Independently conduct data analysis to support program / proposal estimating
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer; stamina to sit and to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 15 pounds; may require minimal walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety shoes, and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
EDUCATION:
Requires a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, and nine (9) years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
