Chipton-Ross is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer 2 for a contract opportunity in El Segundo, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
looking for an engineer who has a structural analysis background to assist in generating the structural engineering analysis package to demonstrate compliance of tooling fixtures such as assembly & lifting jigs in an aerospace fabrication environment. The candidate shall analyze, research and provide input on product design, or operation of product involving metals, non-metallic or composite structural materials. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, damage tolerance, durability & design allowables. While being principle contributor and/or leader of a task, you shall work with internal/external customers, and colleagues to ensure that the design meets the customer needs.

The candidate is expected to be familiar with current fabrication/machine shop practices to provide guidance to engineers. It is essential that this person have the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment, adapt to processes and company policy while providing input or methods of process/design innovation. In this role you will assist in the design of industrial tools, assembly structures, lifting jigs, composite dies, drill fixtures, machine attachments and equipment, required for production or experimental use.

Essential functions:
o Performing structural analysis in FEMAP/NASTRAN of metallic and composite structures.
o Creation of reports in support of completed analysis as well as review reports of others
o Concise presentation and explanation of structural issues/solutions to internal management and customer representatives.
o Engage with other team members in meetings, 1:1's and others in order to provide the right solution to complex engineering problems
o Evaluation of engineering products for conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications
o Static and dynamic analysis in support of Major/Minor and simple to complex Tooling fixtures and structures


Core Competencies
o Analysis of simple to complex problems via hand calculations and FEM, respectively.
o Experience with stress analysis techniques, concepts and practices
o Computer Aided Design Tools - Basic knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (CATIA/NX). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).
o Engineering Drawings & Specs - Basic ability to create, read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME 14.5. Basic level understanding of GD&T
o Able to communicate with various levels of leadership, must be able to coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems and must work well either in a team or independently with limited guidance

REQUIREMENTS:
o Bachelor's (STEM) Degree with 5 years of experience OR Master's (STEM) Degree with 3 years of experience in medium to large scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations.
o Experience with industry standard aerospace to conceptualizing designs using 3D modeling tools including NX & CATIA
o Creating drawings for fabrication via CAD, with properly laid out views and dimensions that are in compliance with ASME Y14.1-5 standards for fabrication.
o Experience with fabrication applying such factors as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
o FEMAP/NASTRAM software experience
o Structural analysis experience
o Ability to analyze simple to complex problems via hand calculations and FEM, respectively

PREFERRED:
o Professional Engineering License (preferably from California) or working to obtain PE
o Direct Aerospace Tooling experience
o Direct experience with Tooling mechanics and analysis relative to stress
o Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
o Experience in aerospace manufacturing environment
o Experience in medium to large scale tooling fabrication and/or production fabrication including composites, metallic, coatings application, and/or production manufacturing operations.
o Experience creating drawings for fabrication via CAD
o Working knowledge of fabrication processes; lathe, milling, welding and heat treating processes.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's (STEM) Degree is required.
School must be accredited.

HOURS:
9/80 workweek. Hours: 6am-3:30 pm.

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
