Chipton-Ross is seeking a Scientist I for a contract opportunity in Frederick, MD.

SUMMARY:
The Advanced Cell Systems Production team is responsible for testing various Primary tissue derived products including cells, RNA, and subcellular fractions along with reagents and for a variety of biological applications. Our team is dynamic and fast paced, relying on teamwork, multitasking and communication within the team and the larger organization. We are seeking an energetic individual with effective communication, technical and operational skills to join our team. The candidate will follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) and work in compliance with EH&S (Environmental Health & Safety), GLP (Good Laboratory Practices), and any other required manufacturing or company systems (e.g., E1 (Enterprise 1), Agile, Track wise, etc.). This position will be responsible for supporting the team in achieving daily production schedules and product quality goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrate a basic understanding of scientific principles, biology
Culture and maintain cells using aseptic technique
Operate manual and automated laboratory equipment like ELISA, PCR etc.
Perform mathematical calculations routinely (e.g., viability, concentration, and density).
Record information accurately into various electronic databases (e.g., raw and calculated data, inventory transfers, routing hours).
Review data, recognize and report inconsistencies to the supervisor.
Troubleshoot and think critically. Anticipate needs and problems while creating solutions using the PPI (Practical Process Improvement) tool.
Scheduling, closing work orders, and NPI.
Understand and apply good documentation practices consistently when documenting work.
Follows safety guidelines and any additional duties given by the supervisor
On-call Hours required
Has contact with equivalent levels of company employees and may have contact with external vendors. Working Conditions: Works in a laboratory environment and may operate under various temperatures up to ten hours per day. May work in a standing position for extended periods of time. May handle potentially hazardous materials (chemical, biological). The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be agreeable to work any shift (with advance notice of shift change). Must be flexible to work varying schedules, hours, and overtime as needed. The nature of the operation's working environment is conducive to varying degrees of stress throughout the day. The physical and emotional demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
This position interacts with equivalent levels of internal personnel. That interaction requires effective communication skills and customer service skills. Effectiveness in this role also requires functional knowledge of cell culture, cryopreservation processes, media and reagent preparation, work order creation, entry and closure, and good documentation practices (GDP). The job encounters recurring work situations of a routine nature where the ability to recognize deviation from accepted practice is required. Accuracy is required in performing all functions of this position; errors at work could cause delays in schedules. This position requires the individual to be ready to start work on time daily. Unplanned, unapproved "missed time" is required to be less than 2% annually. The incumbent normally receives general instruction on routine work, detailed instruction on new assignments.

Minimum of 0-2 years related experience.
Knowledge of Aseptic Technique/cGMP manufacturing
0-2 years of mammalian Cell Culture experience.
Hepatocytes or primary cells culture experienced preferred
Anticipate needs and problems while creating solutions using PPI (Practical Process Improvement) tool
Demonstrates a sense of urgency, contagious optimism and a 'can do' attitude
Proven ability to follow policies and procedures consistently and independently; written and verbal instruction, and to meet schedules required.
Able to work with business computer software with logistics related databases desired and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems experience.
Strong organizational, record-keeping, and data analysis skills.
Ability to be on call, and to work some weekends if needed.

HARD REQUIREMENTS:
Must be customer focused, able to work under pressure with team.

EDUCATION:
Accredited Bachelor's degree in a scientific field.

WORK HOURS:
Full-Time; Mon-Fri First Shift.
On-call Hours required

Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
