Chipton-Ross is seeking multiple Technical Writer 3's for a contract opportunity in Elkridge, MD.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o Bachelor's Degree in STEM discipline or related field or military operations and maintenance experience with radar, communications, electro-optics, networks and information technology -based sensors/systems.
Writers should be "technical" to be able to write test requirement documents (TRDs).
o Expert knowledge on MS Office Products.
o Minimum of 2 years' experience with structured authoring applications, such as: MadCap, FrameMaker, or Arbortext.
o Proven ability to manage several tasks simultaneously.
o Excellent attention to detail.
o Possess and maintain Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance.
o Self-starter and engaged team member
Excellent communications and interpersonal skills, be proactive, possess excellent problem-solving and organizational skills, and be self-motivated.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Seeking Technical Writers. The successful candidates will join our high performing team in developing technical documentation for advanced military systems. These include radars for F-22, F-35, Joint Strike Fighter, F-16, B-1B, MESA, G/ATOR and VADER and other UAV systems.
Responsibilities:
Ability to dig your nose into artifacts, Cadstar, similar TRDs and TO's (Technical Orders) that we are referencing to write these new manuals and create new TRDs.
Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical information and instructions to a wide range of audiences.
o Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts.
o Conducts quality review of materials.
o Publish materials in various formats, including page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), structured (HTML, XML, and SGML).
o Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors, to develop and deliver sensor/system technical manuals to varying levels of detail and delivery formats.
o Perform Desktop Publishing tasks for program/project reports, whitepapers, articles, and other documents.
o Research and compile information from program documents, engineering sources, et al. to develop manual outlines and adhere to military/civilian specifications and standards of technical writing.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
o Minimum of 5 years' technical writing experience.
o Knowledge of standard content management strategies.
o Knowledge of Simplified Technical English (ASD-STE 100).
o Knowledge of standards - XML, SGML, HTML, S1000 and DITA - for structured Content.
o Possess and maintain DoD Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI)
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree is required.
School must be accredited.
WORK HOURS:
9/80 workweek. 100% On-Site. Hours may vary between 35 - 45 hours per week.
MISCELLANEOUS:
Applicants responding to this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements by currently possessing the ability to view classified government information.
Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
