Chipton-Ross is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer 3 for a contract opportunity in Melbourne, FL.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
oAn active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance is a fundamental requirement. o Must have aviation E-2 experience. oStrong working knowledge of standards like MIL-STD-882 is critical, along with other industry or military standards such as DO-178B/C, DO-254, and ARP-4761. oExperience performing various hazard analyses, such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA), is essential. oThe ability to develop safety documentation to meet customer and program requirements is a key requirement. oFamiliarity with tools for requirements management (like DOORS) or other system safety tools is often preferred.POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Looking for a Systems Safety Engineer to review product systems, associated support equipment and facilities, functional specifications and operations, and establishes safety requirements for assigned systems. Independently analyzes and recommends safety criteria in system design, equipment and procedures to control or eliminate hazards. Develops safety documents as required to support customer and test/operational range requirements. Performs audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of system safety program. Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and corrective actions. Evaluates the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost-effective program. Responsibilities for Engineer Systems Safety 3:
oIndependently analyze and recommend safety criteria to mitigate or eliminate hazards in system design, equipment, and procedures. o Evaluate system designs, support equipment, and facilities to ensure they meet applicable safety specifications and standards. oDevelop, review, and approve safety documents, including system safety analyses, reports, and documentation to support customer and certification requirements. oApply knowledge of safety engineering principles and standards such as MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, and other relevant industry practices. oWork with other engineering disciplines, such as systems, software, and test, to ensure safety-critical functions are verified. oParticipate in accident investigations to help identify causes and corrective actions. oIdentify technical issues and propose solutions to resolve them, ensuring safety is integrated throughout the development process. oDevelop and maintain safety requirements, and participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to discuss them.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
oExperience with military standards like MIL-STD-882E oProficiency in safety analysis techniques (e.g., Fault Tree Analysis) oExperience with specific domains like aircraft, missile, or software safety. oA strong knowledge of related standards like ARP-4761 and certifications like CSP/ASP are also preferred.REQUIRED EDUCATION:
High School Diploma or equivalent is required. School must be accredited.WORK HOURS:
Full-Time 9/80 work week. 1st shift.ADDITIONAL:
