Chipton-Ross is seeking a Software Engineer-Developer (Level 1) for a contract opportunity in Kent, WA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
- Experience with software development lifecycle including prototyping, architecture, design, coding, integration, and testing
- Experience with Agile software development
- Experience with Agile workflow tools such as VS Code and platforms such as Gitlab
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
This role focuses on embedded flight software development and avionics modernization for a long-serving, iconic military aircraft and the role is ideal for someone passionate about embedded systems who is ready to grow their career working alongside experienced engineers in a dynamic environment. In this role you will provide practical, cost-effective support for day-to-day software engineering tasks required to sustain development, integration, verification, and process improvement activities. You will implement, test, and debug code for multiple systems under general supervision from technical leads, work with cross-functional teammates to analyze requirements and contribute design input, and produce documentation that supports system integration and verification.Duties may include (but are not limited to):
- Assists with the design, development, test, and maintenance of embedded software throughout the end-to-end lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards.
- Gathers information to review, analyze, and translate customer requirements into initial design of software products.
- Assists with development, maintenance, enhancement and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations.
- Assists with development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for software products.
- Assists with debugging and resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.
- Assists with implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks and changes in regulations relevant to software development.
- Assists to develop, establish, monitor and improve software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks.
- Provides information to execute and document software research and development project.
- Gathers information to perform software project management activities and software supplier management functions.
- Assists to track and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with Agile workflow tools such as VS Code and platforms such as Gitlab
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels
- Experience developing embedded real-time software with C, C++, Java, Python, Rust, or Ada
- Experience working with real-time operating systems (RTOS)
- Experience with object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) methodologies
REQUIRED EDUCATION Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
TRAVEL Possible domestic travel.
WORK HOURS FULL TIME/FIRST SHIFT; 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM
