Buyer II

Chipton-Ross is seeking a Buyer II for a contract opportunity in Lancaster, NY.

• Good communicator, assertive personality, basic purchasing skills Including negotiations, supplier evaluation, cost reduction, Standard purchasing systems and procedures, blueprint reading.

Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

• Negotiate pricing, quality and delivery criteria for required materials in connection with the placement of purchase orders for a selected list of commodities as designated by the Manager.
• Analyze the above criteria to determine the proper vendor to select.
• Process purchase requisitions for materials required for the production lines.
• Investigate all “Material Variance Reports” and coordinate between supplier and Quality and Engineering Departments to bring about acceptable corrective action.
• Coordinate any vendor questions or problems with Engineering, Quality, Sales and Accounting or other Departments as required.
• Counsel and assist other Department personnel on matters related to procurement problems.
• Coordinate with other internal departments and with suppliers on any special projects or programs as assigned by the Manager.
• Prepare and maintain departmental reports relative to cost reduction, new orders, change orders, total dollars placed, updating of projects and programs, or other reports as assigned.
• Act as a coordinator on all vendor visitations to ensure appropriate departmental functions are represented to achieve the intended objectives.
• Meet with planners to discuss delivery schedules and inform them when the suppliers scheduled deliveries do not support the requirements dates in the system. Also, notify them of any changes in suppliers deliveries as they occur.
• Responsible for developing small, disadvantaged suppliers and attaining Purchasing's objectives on purchases compliant with Military or Government contracts.
• Manage component deliveries in a manner that drives the suppliers to perform as promised both in regard to quality and on-time deliveries.

• 3-6 years experience in purchasing or materials buyer in a manufacturing environment, MRP, CPAM would be a PLUS.

• Accredited College degree is preferred (Preferably a degree in Supply Chain management or related field) or comparable experience.

• Full-Time- Monday- Friday 08:00am-05:00pm

• Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
