Job #215468Chipton-Ross is seeking a Welding Department Foreman for a contract opening in Sturgeon Bay, WI.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
- High School Diploma
- Shipyard or marine construction background
- 3+ years of welding or related heavy manufacturing experience
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams and specifications
- Willingness to complete ASNT NDT Level II Certification
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Welding Foreman is responsible for coordinating and overseeing daily activities and provides leadership for 10-20 employees, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality work on both new construction and repair projects in fabrication shops and on the waterfront.
- Supervise, train, and mentor welding teams to ensure productivity and safety
- Plan and direct work on ship construction and repair projects
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Inspect work for quality, safety, and compliance with standards
- Collaborate with crews, leaders, purchasing, and senior leadership
- Manage employee performance, timekeeping, and policy enforcement
- Promote continuous improvement, accountability, and teamwork
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE)
- 3+ years supervisory/management experience
- Journeyman or equivalent welding certification
- Familiarity with ABS, USCG, NEC, and IEEE 45 standards
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Experience with Time & Attendance tracking software
- Prior experience with FBS
REQUIRED EDUCATION
- HSD/GED

- Employment will be contingent on clearing a drug screen and background check. Both must clear prior to start date.
